The Reagan coalition was all about Republicans that were able to bring Democrats into the fold. A coalition of fiscally conservative democrats that turned into being Republicans.
Republicans love to hype up the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Since him, they've had two Bushes and that hadn't panned out well for them. Republicans have been discouraged with the process and the elected officials that they have had. This causes Republicans to falter in the eyes of so many.
It is important for so many people that the Reagan be the one the put up on a pedestal because they can not do so with the Bushes.
Republicans, for the most part, initially thought Reagan would decrease the size of government but he did not do so during his presidency. There have not been too many American presidents to decrease the size of government and that has caused the United States to go into the biggest debts this country has known. 12 trillion dollars of debt.
The two culprits are Bush and Obama. Although Bush had been president for 8 years and caused a massive increase in the deficit, Obama is continuing all of his bad economic and foreign policies. And making the government bigger and bigger.
