I am the son of immigrants. My family left a regime that did not encourage the economic freedoms of its citizens. We have to keep the United States the "shining city on a hill" as stated by Reagan. I am part of the Reagan Coalition.

Reagan: Government's View of the Economy

12/10/11

"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it." - Ronald Reagan

Taxes

Income is generated when a product is created or a service is rendered. And those are beneficial to society. Taxing it punishes success. For this reason, government should be as small as possible so that these aspects of society are burdened as little as possible.

Regulations

Regulations are also another form of tax albeit a hidden one. Consider a hypothetical regulation. Every business owner is expected to produce a 10-page yearly report on how their business impacts the environment. The time spent on writing the 10 page report is valuable time that could have been spent on improving the business. The money spent hiring a writer to produce the document is money that has to be taken from profits. The money spent hiring lawyers to comply with and understand the myriad of regulations is likely the most burdensome aspect for businesses.

Subsidizing Failure

We subsidize failure in so many ways. For example, to earn food stamps you pretty much have to be broke. No money in the bank, no IRA. Nothing. If you have even $5,000 in the bank you would not qualify so it punishes those that save in favor of those that are reckless in how they manage their money.

Welfare benefits have only served to foster more children, less desire for employment, etc..

The country needs a Ronald Reagan now more than ever.
