Obama Will Sign Internet Executive Order If Congress Doesn't Act
9/12/12
In the name of cyber security, Obama wants to draft an executive order allowing him control over the internet.
From The Hill:
The state of play on cybersecurity changed dramatically last week when it was revealed that the White House is in the early stages of drafting an executive order that's intended to protect key infrastructure from cyber attacks.
Congress is back in town, and the big question is how lawmakers will respond to the administration's move to forge ahead on cybersecurity on its own.
The executive order on cybersecurity "could allow us to focus on things we agree on," a Senate aide said.
From theDC:
“Moving forward, the President is determined to do absolutely everything we can to better protect our nation against today’s cyber threats and we will do that,” Carney.
